Fishing has been a way of life in these beach-side communities for as long as one can imagine. The equipment and technology has changed, but the process of going out and sitting in the boat in hopes of a large catch has not. Men and their sons still go out at night with their lamps to return the following morning ready to sell their fish on the beach or in the markets. This is a typical scene around Zihua, just so happens that the above is on the remote beach of Saladita. I once heard it said that many people like to go fishing, while others would really rather go catching.

Someday I want to go out all night with one of these fishermen and experience what happens, from the catch to the market. I wonder what they do out there while waiting for the "large catch." Are they bored? Do they smoke & drink? Talk? Sing? I'm curious about the whole business, and would love to hear the inside scoop, but these fishermen would probably never let an outsider find out much about their lives.
