Traje de baños

Karen giving away a pink suit
Every year our friends send down swimming suits with us for the children in Zihuatanejo.  Many children here simply go swimming in their clothes.  Today we decided to take the bag of suits on our beach walk and give them away.  We asked one young girl if she would like one and she picked out a pink one.  We walked on and I turned to watch her run with glee up to show her parents.  One woman and her daughter picked out a suit, but the mom said "no money".  We explained that they were a gift, free from our friends.  One little girl picked out a pink Speedo and thanked us in English.  A little later, she ran down the beach after us wearing her new suit with her sister.  Well, of course we found a suit for her sister as well.  This was one of our most fun days here.  Thank you all who made us pack the suits down to Mexico.  We  will always have room in our suitcases.

  1. That sounds like a lot of fun! I can imagine how popular you were by the time you reached the end of the beach. Speaking of new clothes, the wildflowers (Grass Widows) at the east end of the Gorge have started blooming en mass. There is something amazingly alive and rejuvenating about newness, bright colors and coverings, especially when given as gifts.
