This afternoon I was talking with my chiropractor about the science of Mindfulness. He's spent a lot of time on the concept, and said it comes down to simply paying attention to your surroundings in the present moment. Researchers conclude that most people live in the future and/or the past, which means being constantly distracted from the present moment. I think this is one of the main reasons many simply don't notice things like rainbows or beautiful purple vines growing behind a restaurant. maybe this is one of the unconscious reasons I enjoy photography, as it connects me with my present environment and causes me to immediately focus the surroundings.
