Over the Christmas Holidays, I decided to print a few books, planners and calendars of the many pictures that I've taken and that are just taking up space on our computer. We had fun handing them out to family and friends. On Christmas Eve we wrapped up a Hood Canal calendar for the 'White Elephant' and soon realized that everyone wanted one. Well, my sister got it and took it back to Hawaii. My mom really wanted the calendar of Hood Canal, so we gave her Karen's as a gift on Christmas Day.
I then created a new Hood Canal calendar and ordered three more for Karen, Tracy and Micah. Since Tracy's birthday was coming soon and we are in Zihua, I had the calendars sent to her address and told her that her birthday present would be coming with two more for Karen and Micah. I explained that it would be obvious when she got it. Well, she got it and sent us an email thanking us for the calendar and also saying Got the package. Thank you for the calendar. Micah gets one for my birthday? Lol.
Oh well, I guess that I need to find an appropriate gift to give Tracy on Micah's birthday. Feliz CumpleaƱos today Tracy!
The cover photo of this calendar is the rising moon over the Canal.
Beautiful cover for the 2015 calendar! Sharing photographs with friends and family is an effective way of sharing one's life; interests, values, dreams. In my own experience, it seems that the longer I spend with a photograph, the more I understand, and that this practice is similar to meditation. Even taking a photo - the process of composing - seems to have a positive lingering effect. Photographers for National Geographic say their success at composing a photograph is determined by how many seconds a reader of the magazine spends looking at a published shot. If a person spends 4 seconds looking at their photo, it is considered a winner! One of the nicest compliments I receive from others is when someone tells me they've made one of my photos their computer screen saver. It makes me feel as though the person is interested in my life and they like what they see. I can imagine this is how you felt when "everyone wanted one [of our calenders]." And I can add that without your photos on this blog, it would not be nearly as interesting.
