A Child's Kingdom

I never tire of taking pictures of kids.  And, I never tire of taking pictures in the outdoor market.  I guess the fascination is that there is such a contrast to what we experience in the Sates.  There is also an innocence and purity about the young children.

I just re-read Luke 18:15-17 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”   All the more reason to accept the truth about God like children and discover the secrets of child-like trust.  When did growing up require us to shed our trust, hope and belief in our God?

  1. I've been listening to a course called, "Masters of Photography," by The Great Courses Co. They feature twelve highly experienced National Geographic photographers with an average depth of 30+ years. It's fascinating to see the difference in topical interests. One of the photographers emphasizes the importance of photographing children, and said, "When you photograph a child, it's important to get down low, as if you were also a child, and take the photo at their level." Maybe obvious, but I don't think I consciously make this a practice... so I've started photographing children from their height (the granddaughters - Arabel is now 46 inches tall). This may be a "first principles" concept in all-things-children, as getting down on their level might be one of the elements in winning their trust. The other day, Arabel (5 yrs) looked up at me and said, "You know, Pappy, I'm not afraid of you," and then laughed. I think there must be a boat load of lessons we can learn about God by watching and raising children.
