Guitar Man

We had to go to the Mercado Monday to get some fruits and vegetables.  We love the markets, so full of color and interesting people.  This fellow was tucked back in an alley singing his heart out.  It didn't appear that he was necessarily playing for tips, and he had a fairly decent voice.  He was missing a leg and most of his teeth.

I always show the pictures that I take and that seems to make a way for a slight connection.  I raised the camera and he immediately began playing and singing.  Seems in spite of his circumstances that he had a song in his heart.  We could learn a lesson about that.

  1. Have I ever told you what my dream job would be? The job I've always wanted to have is playing classical guitar in the corner of a high-end restaurant. Subdued lights, soft music, no interruptions. I wouldn't even care if people listened closely or not. It's as if the act of making music pushes all other worldly/psychological troubles out of my life. I'll bet this old man in your photo plays his guitar for similar reasons. It's clear at this point in my life that I will never have the freedom or time to pursue my dream job, but I have to smile when I see someone else drinking it in.
