Working the Beach

Cats on La Playa
Was hanging out at the beach with my friend Jose Luis, the guy who rents Hobie Cats.  Well, it got real busy and he had several customers at the same time.  He took a group sailing and yelled out Rogelio, I need you to be "Capitán".  So, I grabbed the other Hobie and took a couple out for an hour sail.  The pay is lousy, but the benefits are super.

  1. Love this one! Helping Jose with one of your recreational skills must have been a lot of fun, and I'll bet it led to an hour's worth of interesting conversation as you escorted the couple around the bay. His business spices up La Ropa with activity and color, and makes the whole place seem happier. Helping him illustrates one way to build healthy relationships with Mexicans, more than simply buying their products. And you could not have helped him unless you had already won his trust and friendship. Just shows how one virtue opens the door to another. If I remember correctly, Jose's business was pillaged and plundered last year, but you were involved in getting the business back up and running. Is that right, or am I thinking of someone else?
