Friday, we met up with a our friends Ivan and Angela and their son Ty to shop in the open market for fruits and vegetables. We took a bunch of produce out to the Children's Home and then headed North to a remote beach. As you can see, we had the beach all to ourselves. The two ladies on the beach are Karen and Angela. Great conversations and a fun day with friends. Sometimes it is good to just walk and talk and take some time to play.
Sounds like a peaceful way to spend the day. Simple. Relational. Necessary. Jenny, my sister, often quotes a word of wisdom she heard from a counselor some years back: "Take time to live as a human BEING, not a human DOING." I liked it as soon as I heard it, because it addresses the problem of loneliness in the midst of activity. Love is spending time with another person in the right way, being emotionally available, making the other person feel valued. "After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them..." (John 3:22). Love without presence is not love.
